Let’s face it – knitting is not for everyone. It’s not for most. It’s hardly for anyone.
I’m selling it well; would you not agree?
But look, it’s nearly New Year ( if you read this on the 4th of January, this sentence is not aging well, so pretend it’s December – not 25th December because you would not be reading this – you would be trying to talk the police into not pressing charges against your drunk uncle with a ‘he only drinks once a year and just can’t handle it’, while not telling them that this once a year starts on 1st January and continues through until the 31st December), … and you want to achieve something this coming year.
New challenges keep us young. And when we are old, they keep us alive. Perhaps we want to learn a new skill or seek to return and improve on a skill we had many years ago. Maybe, like many, we are being affected by the cost of living crisis, or see others who are being affected by it, and just want to do something that will help.
We all like to see something tangible from our efforts, don’t we?
So, why not? Yes – knit yourself a beautiful Paisley Pattern & Leaf Aran Style Sweater – just like the one in the photo below.

Tell me that does not look ultra-classy and stylish – and warm! So, if you can find anything more beautiful in Paisley than this sweater (apart from my obvious favourites of the Paisley drinks coaster and its close relative, the Paisley iPhone case), I will waltz down Wellmeadow Street with a couple of walnuts hanging from my ears. Or, if you prefer, I will moonwalk up Mannering Road accompanied by a marsupial mounted on a moped. (Don’t worry, the wallaby will have a provisional license and the bike will be less than 50cc)
If you are a Paisley aficionado, this woolen sweater for women is for you. Turn up in this – you get noticed! I can almost guarantee someone – if not everyone – will comment on your chunky sweater. If you are in the room with someone, that person is everyone – but that still counts.
And while you are discussing it, you will be obliged to tell everyone that it is a Paisley Pattern sweater, while pointing to one of the beautiful Paisley swirls. At this point, you will also be obliged to tell them - no, ask them if they know so many things come in Paisley Pattern – and you will then refer them to us at Just Paisley.
Such shameless advertising of this website will not go unnoticed – by me – and I thank you in advance for all your hard (unpaid) work on my behalf. You are helping me stay young and if I am old (and when do you know?), you are keeping me alive.
Of course, once you see the rewards of knitting your Paisley sweater, you will not want to stop there. You will want to knit one for everyone – but not that woman who will look better in it than you.
The thing about wool is that it comes in so many different colours – no, it does! So, you won’t be restricted to just one colour. No, you will only be restricted by the time available to knit your sweaters.
There is a solution to this – outsource your knitting to someone else. In fact, why not develop a team of knitters or even an army of knitters? Before you know it, you will have a thriving business. And before you know it, everyone in your town will wear a Paisley sweater.
But then, the impact of your Paisley sweater will have been lessened. So, maybe it’s best to stick to knitting your own – or at a push, get someone to knit that stunning Paisley sweater for you. I bet you can’t wait!
