Nowadays, the great thing about shorts is they can be worn virtually anywhere. Basketball shorts are shorts so are no different. Paisley basketball shorts are basketball shorts, which are shorts, so are no different. Follow? I thought not. Let me explain.
Where can shorts not be worn? As time progresses, and people more and more ditch formality and deference to antiquated rules, customs, and snobbery, the number of ‘places’ not allowing shorts is dwindling. Sure, you will always get some clubs and restaurants that try to differentiate themselves by ingratiating themselves with the ignorant but rich, but the list gets smaller every day. (These days even restaurant owners are taking chances - and winning - when they shame the famous but disgusting who think they can treat everyone how their squalid little minds think fit)
So, with the normal fighting back, the barriers to shorts are breaking down. (That is not a sentence I thought I would ever write, and I am sure you never thought you would read) Fortunately, we are where we are, and the march of women's and men's basketball shorts is underway. (Admittedly, that sentence seems slightly overdramatic for a pair of shorts)
In fairness, men's and women's basketball shorts would probably look out of place on a golf course. Of course, ripped golfers like Rory, could pull them off. (That created a picture there, didn’t it?) But, for most casual golfers, Paisley basketball shorts might not be the best idea. No, best they stick to the tailored shorts (and you do get beautiful Paisley golfing shorts), and leave the basketball shorts to the – how do I say this without offending? – the more honed.
And that is why Paisley basketball shorts look so good! They are athletic and they are colourful – and who does not want to be associated with ‘athletic’ and ‘colourful’? Like their stepbrother and sister, the Paisley bandana, they exude coolness. (Matching a Paisley bandana and Paisley bandana basketball shorts – now we are nearing the realms of infinite coolness)
And if you don’t have the look and personality to wear Paisley basketball shorts, maybe it’s time for a New Year’s resolution! (But only if it is late December – I mean after Christmas. Otherwise, start after this coming weekend)
Just one final point about Paisley basketball shorts – don’t wear them in winter (unless you are lucky enough to live in warmer climates). That would not look cool and you will find that if doing so, you will be freezing cool, and the purpleness of your legs might not match your red basketball shorts. Any coolness you might previously have acquired – and coolness is solely determined by others – will forever evaporate as you strut down Main Street in your basketball shorts and duffel coat. Just don’t!
If you need to wear your Paisley basketball shorts in inappropriate weather conditions, wear them underneath something – but not a thong!
