Paisley Duct Tape: Yes, It Is A Real Thing!

We should always have duct tape in the house – it is necessary! But, Just Paisley does not recommend any duct tape - maybe you can guess...

Can you really get Paisley Duct Tape?

When we found duct tape in Paisley, not the town but the duct tape, we immediately thought, ‘Why would we use boring old black duct tape when we can use beautiful Paisley duct tape?’ Why, indeed!

Then we thought, ‘I suppose it depends on where we are using the duct tape and whether it will be seen.’

So, we decided it would be wise to have both types of duct tape - plain and Paisley. But, you know which one we prefer!

So, what do we use duct tape for?

This might be hard to believe but the primary use of duct tape is to seal joints in ducts. But don’t confuse ‘primary’ with ‘only’, because duct tape is used for more than ducting.

Its adhesive qualities make it ideal for applying to virtually any surface – plastic, metal, vinyl, etc. While waterproof duct tape also has a water-resistant quality, it cannot stick water to water.

But, these are only some of its qualities, so let’s look at some other specific areas where duct tape comes into its own:

1. Handicrafts

If you are a handicrafter, depending on the craft you are handying, coloured duct tape could be useful. If you are specifically into making decorations, repairing burst balloons (not hot air balloons), and book sealing, then Paisley duct tape becomes more of a necessity.

The great thing is that Paisley duct tape will fit perfectly into your handicraft toolbox. Its colourful demeanour, unlike its dull brown duct tape relation, will be welcomed into your handicraft family, which can only be good for the quality of your output.

2. Sealing boxes

We all need to seal boxes at some point in our lives. It might be moving home, packing the belongings of someone we are kicking out of our home, or sealing the dismembered body of those we have tried to kick out of our home but who refused to go. There is always a need for boxes – and where there is a need for boxes, there will always be a need for duct tape.

Key Point: If you put something in a box and do not seal it, the items inside it are likely to become moldy, brownish, soft, or anything that would otherwise be considered degenerative to the contents. By sealing the box with duct tape, when it is re-opened, there will be no dust on its contents, and the items will have retained much of their original freshness (unless you have been stupid enough to store perishable items inside it).

3. Stolen maintenance hole cover replacement (Temporary)

Previously known as a ‘manhole cover’, a maintenance hole cover has been stolen (and it is usually to replace another stolen maintenance hole cover), duct tape makes an excellent temporary ‘sticking plaster’.

Key Point: Duct tape makes a great sealant but has no strength qualities. So, if you were to walk on the tape covering a missing sewer hole cover, you soon find yourself in the ****.

4. Mouth taper

Taping someone else's mouth with duct tape is illegal, and while it features heavily in movies, it should never, ever be done in real life.

If anyone ever contemplates such use, it just shows off the cruel criminality that lurks inside their mind - Paisley duct tape taped over the mouth would make the situation less stressful for onlookers (normally the gang of the taper), but make no difference to the terrified tapee.

5. Child's toy

A finished duct tape roll, or even a part-finished duct tape roll… come to think of it, an unused but opened duct tape roll – like its smaller counterpart, the toilet paper roll – is great for impromptu games.

For example, if you glue an upright pencil to a kitchen surface, the family will have lots of fun throwing the duct tape roll to try to hook it over the pencil. (It makes no difference where the finished duct tape roll was plain or Paisley – the tape is finished).

Duct tape rolls are also great for rolling. They will keep small kids occupied for hours and is much preferable to tying them up in duct tape, which is illegal, dangerous, and should never, ever be considered.

6. First aid assistant

If you need to tape up an injured arm or leg temporarily e.g. if someone accidentally falls down a taped-up maintenance hole cover, then duct tape will do the trick (and you will likely have sufficient duct tape left over to do this if it was you who taped up the maintenance hole cover).

7. Halloween costume

If you have enough duct tape, you can create the perfect ‘Mummy’ costume – remember to leave all necessary airways untapped, otherwise, you will be dealing with a real Mummy.

8. Boxing tape

Duct tape will be a welcome substitute for the kee boxer, in the absence of athletic tape and hand wraps, Let’s face it, no one will ever see the duct tape, so no one will ever know!

Again, the Paisleyness of the duct tape will make no difference here. However, if Paisley duct tape is used for this purpose, the warm and fuzzy feeling it creates might not assist in the head space preparation of someone about to go into a boxing ring.

9. Boxing cut sealant (Temporary)

For those who read an article backward or just do not listen, duct tape can be applied to stop bleeding cuts in the absence of petroleum jelly,

While duct tape cannot be applied during the bout, and it would look silly if it could (particularly Paisley duct tape), once the fight has ended, the duct tape that was within the boxer’s gloves can be removed, and any non-sweaty bits can be applied to the affected eye(s).

Key Point: Paisley duct tape can lessen the gruesomeness of the look for the boxer's family.

There are plenty of other uses for duct tape.

But, honestly, we recommend it is used only in line with manufacturer instructions.
