Paisley Duvet Cover: Add A Splash Of Classy Fun To Your Bedroom

Where did Paisley start?

The Paisley Print! The iconic pattern has been around for centuries – maybe even millenniums! Its roots are in ancient Persia (now Iran). Following its spread to Kashmir, once the British took control of India in the mid-18th century, it was logical for popular Indian products to be exported back home.

Paisley, a small town in Scotland, was already a mass producer of textiles, and it soon turned its production to the Paisley shawls and rugs bearing the teardrop shape. With its ability to produce cheaply, Paisley was soon exporting its products globally.

And because it did so in vast quantities, the name ‘Paisley’ became synonymous with the famous design. So, even though it did not originate in the town, the distinct motif is and will probably always be known as ‘Paisley’ in many parts of the world.

And nowadays? With the weavers and mills long gone, Paisley no longer mass-produces anything with the Paisley shape. That’s not to say that the town has turned its back on its most famous export. Quite the opposite!

If you walk through the town today, you will see it in the odd shop window. With the local council also adopting the motif in its logo, Paisley ‘buddies’ are used to seeing two asymmetrical Paisleys in offices and on vans and refuse trucks.

As for the Paisley itself, like a living being, it is an ever-evolving creature. Only it is likely that this particular creature will be Immortal. Unbeatable. It has probably visited every country in the world – and will continue to do so.

And perhaps not so strangely, one of its favorite haunts is the bedroom.

Given Paisley's long history, you might have thought that the ‘duvet’ is a comparative newcomer. You would be wrong! History tells us that they too have been around for thousands of years. Strangely enough, in the 1960s, when Paisley was having a major renaissance, the duvet took off in its modern form. Bringing less hassle to the bedroom, modern techniques for making the duvets allow designers – and therefore us - to let our stylistic imaginations run wild.

What about a Paisley Pattern duvet cover?

If you are not quite ready to put down a Paisley rug in the lounge, or confident enough to wear a Paisley blouse or shirt, what about a Paisley duvet cover? Could that be your perfect introduction to Paisley?

A Paisley duvet cover is a great starting point for getting acquainted with the Paisley Pattern. So, maybe seek a quiet nod from a few intimates or friends. Then, the choice made, hopefully, you are setting off on a journey that will be the key to broadening your Paisley horizons.

And the great thing is you can tiptoe in or take that plunge. With Paisley, the duvet cover is one of its greatest advocates. Modern to traditional, wild, or understated – apart from the shirt or top - there’s probably no other product so popular in Paisley. You will not be stuck for a choice!

There is one great tip when it comes to duvet covers. Think reversible! The duvet cover is the perfect two-for-one item, and manufacturers are clever enough to know that sometimes when you want a change, you want a real change.

A Paisley reversible duvet cover covers many bases, from the wildly exotic to the smoothly elegant. Paisley’s designs can come in different degrees of intricacy and a mix of colours. That means there will always be a Paisley duvet for every mood and taste.

Similar to the Paisley shirt or top, the duvet cover provides enough space for the Paisley Pattern to get noticed. And I mean, really get noticed!

Oh, and for everything we at Just Paisley say about the Paisley duvet cover, we can say the same about a Paisley comforter.

What's the difference between a comforter and a duvet cover?

For the uninitiated, a comforter is a quilt that needs no cover. Where the duvet cover needs a duvet to put inside it, the comforter is a one-piece. It is the cover and the duvet. Like the duvet cover, the comforter also comes reversible. Great news for those into two-for-one!

One final question needs answered before we delve into examples of Paisley bedding.

Does Paisley bedding work with every fabric?

There is a simple answer to this – absolutely!

Cotton is the ultimate bedding fabric. It is light, soft, and comfortable on the skin and perfect for any Paisley duvet cover!

Silk also fits perfectly with Paisley. Its luxurious qualities perfectly match rich, royal Paisley tapestries or the most exuberant and colourful patterns. There is no Paisley that would not look good in silk!

And for when those nights get cold – a Paisley flannel duvet cover will do the job!

The search for additional properties in fabrics such as durability, wrinklelessness (wow, what a word - if it is!), breathability, and reduced cost has led to the development of synthetic materials. But not to the detriment of Paisley – it works with everything!

So, that’s it!

Conclusion – Paisley bedding has undoubtedly got to be a no-brainer!
